Learn how to keep your nails looking healthy and fresh and get a salon- worthy manicure at home with these simple nail care tips:
  •  Avoid chemical based hand wash
Use a milky hand wash - avoid soaps that contain the harsh chemical Triclosan (often marked as antibacterial) and instead look for naturally antibacterial ingredients such as tea tree oil or eucalyptus. This will keep your hands and nails moisture and avoid dryness.

  • Cuticle Care
Learn proper cuticle care - don’t ever cut cuticles as they can open you up to infections and make them look worse. Firstly, exfoliate hands with a body scrub to soften the cuticle and then push them back with a manicure tool.

  • Protect me please
Rubber gloves are your friends - keep fingernails dry and clean as this prevents bacteria from growing under your fingernails. Wear rubber gloves when washing dishes, cleaning or using harsh chemicals, to protect your hands and nails.

  • Use the correct nail tools
Practice good hygiene - use a sharp manicure scissors or clippers. Trim your nails straight across, then round the tips in a gentle curve.

  • Moisturise regularly
Give yourself a little manicure - soak your nails once a week or when feeling dry and tired, with warm water and a moisturising soap – you can use baby oil that has vitamin E which helps them to keep soft.

  • Take a break
Always have a break in between colouring – nails are made of layers of dead keratin, so if they do not breathe, they will weaken if they’re constantly covered in polish.

  • Flick the acetone based removers!
Don’t use acetone based nail polish and removals – acetone makes your nails soft which can cause the nail to break and chip. If your nail polish has passed its expiration date, throw it away.

  • Strengthen your nails
Apply TLC Nails as a base coat under polish or wear as a clear basecoat to protect from nail polish and strengthen your nails.

  • Toenails count too!
Everything that applies to your fingernails can also be applied to your toenails, so give them the care they need to avoid any infections or nail deterioration.
