Coronary heart disease claimed the lives of 20,046 Australians in 2012 and kills one Australian every 26 minutes. Each year, around 55,000 Australians suffer a heart attack or one heart attack every 10 minutes.1

High blood pressure is an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease, but it is largely preventable and treatable.

Mounting research is pointing to the power of garlic for people who are at risk of cardiovascular disease or those who already suffer its effects.

A specially formulated aged garlic extract has shown numerous benefits in a multitude of quality clinical studies.

In a study, published this year, researchers found Kyolic Aged Garlic Extract™ may significantly lower blood pressure in people with hypertension, according to breakthrough Australian research.2

They found aged garlic extract is effective in reducing blood pressure of patients with uncontrolled high blood pressure.

High blood pressure is an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease and is linked to 70 per cent of heart attacks, strokes, and chronic heart failure.3, 4

Conducted by the National Institute of Integrative Medicine in Melbourne, the 12-week study found aged garlic extract reduced systolic blood pressure compared to placebo by 5mm Hg2 for about 50-60 per cent of participants.

Director of Research, A/Professor Dr Karin Ried said the study showed Kyolic Aged Garlic Extract™ significantly reduced blood pressure.

“We found aged garlic extract is effective in significantly reducing blood pressure in a large proportion of patients with uncontrolled hypertension,” Dr Ried said.

“The participants who took Aged Garlic Extract achieved systolic blood pressure reductions of an average of 5mm Hg2. This reduction in blood pressure is clinically significant, and comparable to standard blood pressure medication.

“In addition, we found aged garlic extract to be beneficial for central blood pressure, arterial stiffness and inflammatory markers. We believe aged garlic extract has the potential to improve cardiovascular health on several levels.”

Artery Health

Aged garlic may help to reverse the fatty deposits around the heart and reduce calcification in our arteries and lowers blood pressure, according to another breakthrough study.5

This study was the first to look at the role of Aged Garlic Extract and its direct effect on heart arteries. It found AGE significantly reduces soft plaque within the arteries. Studies show that most heart attacks are caused by soft plaque which is an inflamed part of an artery that can burst. This can lead to the
formation of a blood clot, which can lead to heart attack.

Other Benefits of Aged Garlic Extract
  • Helps to maintain a healthy immune system and maintain healthy immunity.
  • Garlic has traditionally been used for the relief of colds, flu's and cough.
  • Aged garlic extract also contains powerful antioxidant which may help to protect against free radical damage.
  • Well tolerated in comparison to other forms of garlic.

Kyolic Aged Garlic ExtractTM  is made from organic cloves of garlic, grown free from herbicides, pesticides or other chemicals.  Then they’re aged for up to 20-months in a special process to lock in the antioxidants and other goodies. Ageing thankfully also eliminated the garlic odour too.
