For many people, their father was their greatest hero.

The legacy of hundreds of fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers will be commemorated when the State’s largest cemetery holds its first outdoor Father’s Day Tribute on Sunday 7 September.

Held within Centennial Park’s memorial gardens, the Tribute will be conducted by civil celebrant Carina Ingram and will include words of celebration and reflection, along with the vocal talents of Tasso Bouyessis.

It will conclude with Centennial Park releasing several hundred memorial balloons into the air to pay tribute to those fathers who are now at rest.

South Australian families, friends and children are invited to attend Centennial Park’s Father’s Day Tribute, which will commence at 11.00am on Father’s Day.

People are encouraged to submit a special tribute message in the lead-up to the day, which will then be attached to the memorial balloons on the morning, and let go shortly after 11am

Centennial Park CEO, Mr Bryan Elliott said he looked forward to welcoming families to Centennial Park’s first Father’s Day Tribute.

“Father’s Day is a special time to honour and celebrate the significant bonds we share with our dads,” he said.

“It’s a day to acknowledge and appreciate all that they do for us.

“Centennial Park’s aim is to create a special place where South Australians can go to remember and celebrate the lives of family and loved ones – and that those coming to reflect on the life of a father can do so in picturesque surroundings.

“Centennial Park’s Father’s Day Tribute is an opportunity for families, friends and children to come together and send a tribute message to fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers passed.

“It will be a meaningful way for people – young and old – to celebrate the spirit of Father’s Day.”
