Maya the Bee just wants to be free – and she’s returned in a brand new feature film Maya the Bee Movie.

Based on the children’s book from 1912 and the ABC-TV series Maya the Bee, this loveable animated movie will be buzzing into cinemas nationally from Saturday 1st November.

Maya the Bee Movie follows the charming Maya’s inquisitive desire to escape her heavily regimented existence and experience the freedom to explore, outside the rules of her hive.

Set against the backdrop of a longstanding conflict between bees and hornets, Maya is born into a hive where conformity rules. Her funny attempts to fit in and “be a bee” immediately bring her into conflict with the Queen’s Royal Advisor.

With her best friend Willi tagging along, Maya leaves the hive and buzzes out into the meadow on an exhilarating adventure of self-discovery. Where does she fit in?  And how will she find a way to defeat the Royal Advisor and prevent a nasty battle between the bees and hornets?

It’s a great story that has something for adults as well as children.

Maya The Bee Movie is an independent Australian-German co-production supported by Film Australia and Film NSW. It introduces Coco Jack Gillies as Maya and features the vocal talents of Jacki Weaver, Richard Roxburgh, Noah Taylor, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Justine Clarke Miriam Margolyes and Shane Dundas and David Collins aka ‘The Umbilical Brothers’.

Would you like to see Maya the Bee Movie and discover what happens to Maya and Willi?

We’ve got 10  family passes for 2 adults and 2 children to give away, valued at $50 each (total prize pool of $500).

The competition closes on Sunday 9th November – but if you can’t wait till then, get along to the cinemas from Saturday 1st November.

And don’t forget our other competitions also.
