New toys on the market are far varied and scattered all over the market. Choosing a good toy for your child is an art in itself, aligned with some general principles.

Playing is work for many toddlers and they learn new skills, abilities, and even learn interactions with the physical world while playing. Good toys help kids to learn and perform things to the best of their abilities. Toys in the shopping basket tell more about the parenting skills rather than the child himself or herself. Get fantastic everearth toys from GoodToPlay for your kids!

Here are some of the best toys for your child that help their development:

  • Look for toys that are open-ended like blocks

Many toys have great play-value. But some basic toys that encourage children’s development are highly important in every home and school. Most childcare programs, preschools, and the like encourage the use of such toys on a daily basis for the development of the child. After all, toddlers love to join, pull apart, put in, and build up blocks and elements. Kids play several games that are open-ended with no resolution. Those games help in enriching their imagination and in developing problem-solving skills too. Blocks, interlocking blocks, nesting cups, and toys for sand etc. are examples of great toys.

  • Look for toys that will evolve with your child’s growth

We all buy toys that our child plays for some days and discards them. You can guard against such toys since they are fun at varied developmental stages. For example, you can check out small plastic animals that are immense fun for all toddlers, while older toddlers could build a house and a story about the animals themselves.

Most plastic toy animals and superhero figures come in this category, as children tend to evolve using them with time. You can use trains, dump trucks, and dolls for the same.

  • Gift them “reading and language” toys

Play Books, Magnetic alphabet letters, colour pens, and fingerprints are great tools for increasing your child’s writing and reading skills. They are immense fun to use too. Visual magazines and nursery rhyme videos are fun to look at and boost their familiarity with alphabets, names, shapes, and the like.

  • Make your child active with toys for cross-generational play

Toddlers are always on the lookout to expand their physical energy as they grow more confident with their bodies. Get them to achieve one physical task at a time and let them revel in the same. Balls, tricycles, basketball hoops, pull-toys, gardening tools, wagons, etc. are great toys that ensure your child remains active and healthy at the same time. Additionally, some toys are designed for adult participation. Let there be a game that tests memory or simple board games that are fun playing for all ages. All kinds of board games encourage counting and memory skills, along with self-control and listening to rules. Children will learn to be gracious winners and losers too.

  • Select toys that encourage problem-solving and spark the imagination

Children get a chance to practice new skills and a chance to figure something out with some coaching with toys like puzzles, blocks, clay figures, play-dough etc. Their logical thinking skills are sharpened while their problem-solving acumen deepens.

Children drive their creativity from the third year when they strive to imagine things out of the blue, imagining clay to be cakes while also posing to be kings of their kingdom. They act out stories and pretend their literacy skills too. Kitchen toy sets, plastic plates, stuffed animals and dolls, dollhouses, cardboard boxes always drive their imagination as they build pirate ships, barns, and the like to play-act in their own stories. Get them to make rhythms and music with jingle bells, spoons, pots, a kiddie keyboard, flute etc. Let them play and figure out their own melodies.

Good toys help all kinds of kids with new skills by buying toys that suit their interests. Don’t pick up gender-specific toys and let them learn about dolls and trains with their innocence itself.
