7 Ways to Keep Things Clutter-Free in a Small Home

Micro-minimalism-2

More and more, Australians are moving into smaller accommodation such as units and apartments as housing prices skyrocket. This is fine for most, as singles, couples and families adopt a minimalistic approach. Although many people who opt for smaller sized housing often find that clutter has a way of building up, and up, and up. To reduce the stress caused by mess and clutter, let’s take a look at seven things you can do right now to reduce the clutter in your small home.

Invest in storage solutions

Sometimes clutter occurs just because the owners of the clutter don’t have access to a reliable and affordable storage solution. Ezy Storage are an Australian company that offer eco friendly storage solutions for modern families. Their storage tubs and containers are made from completely recyclable and environmentally conscious materials and production processes. They’re also funky and colourful and would look right at home in a modern, minimal home.

Invest in even more storage solutions

The key to a clutter-free abode might be at your fingertips without you even knowing it.
There are many ways to maximise storage space in micro-pads. One example is investing in some drawers that slot neatly underneath your beds. These are a great place to store sheets, blankets and bulky doonas. They slide out neat and easy when you need them and are out of sight and out of mind when you don’t.

Take it elsewhere

If you’ve exhausted your options for storing your stuff in your property, then there’s another option. You could invest in a storage unit. Many storage companies offer bargain introductory rates and you can usually find one in every suburb, or one nearby. These places are perfect for the stuff you don’t use often but can’t bear to part with. So if you need to stow away those tennis rackets or gym gear till you’re next feeling motivated a storage unit may be just the ticket.

Be ruthless

Sometimes, the key to reducing clutter is to cull, and cull like there’s no tomorrow.

A good rule of thumb for deciding what to keep and what to turf when having a clear out is the year rule. If you haven’t worn it or used it in a year, then it’s probably better off in the op shop or in the bin.

Call in a favour

Do you have household items that you can’t just throw or give away?

If you’re hell-bent on hanging on to some things, then it may be time to pick up the phone. Do your parents have some space, or maybe you’ve got friends with a large garage or a bungalow. Give them a call or text and ask nicely if you can store some stuff at their place.

Turn your clutter into cash

The old saying that one person’s trash is another’s treasure rings true to this day. If your small place is chock full of stuff and is looking a bit cramped, you may want to get on Gumtree and eBay and get selling. You’d be amazed at what people buy, and for how much. You could even cobble up a good side hustle out of this method.

Make use of what you have

Instead of complaining about having no space, make do with what you have. Hang things from your walls. Tuck away something in that corner cupboard. Pack your cupboards and storage spaces full and you’ll be living in a micro minimalist wonderland soon enough.

To sum it up...

To conclude, you need to make the most of your space, call in some favours, think about purging or selling some stuff or invest in some eco-conscious storage solutions!

Wonderful! I think not everyone can have a large house. Some people have small homes. I bought a house from my own money. It is small but furnished. I enjoy living in it. It gives me peace that I have bought something of my money and now students can find writing services assignment in order to incredible quality paper. I would definitely need that tips.
