It's Australia Day next Sunday so our 3 activities this week, January 20-26th, are dedicated to helping you have an entertaining and fun Australia Day with your family and friends.

1.  Victoria’s Government House

The House and Grounds of Victoria’s Government House are open to the public on Australia Day each year. This is a unique opportunity to visit the private residence of the Governor and tour the extensive grounds and garden. Enjoy your own picnic in the gardens or purchase refreshments from community organisations. Visit retired champion racehorses in the 19th century stables and eat scones in the Old Kitchen. Relax to live music on the West Lawn and let your kids be entertained by a variety of activities, including face painting, Melbourne Zoo's Zooperman and Tennis Victoria’s Hot Shots.

If you’re in Brisbane, take your family, bring your friends and celebrate what's great at the Australia Day Festival. The Parklands, South Bank, Brisbane, will come alive with music, interactive art installations, family entertainment and a spectacular fireworks display. You can also watch the traditional flag raising ceremony, which concludes with the thunderous RAAF flypast and twenty-one gun salute at noon.

You will also have the opportunity to take part in a unique community street art project. Local street artists will be crafting a ‘human collage’ mural wall featuring photos from people within the community alongside their messages of thanks. There will be a photo booth and roving cameras on site, so you will have the chance to add your own picture and message to these unique pieces of art.
