Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and maybe the lips too? Over the years, cosmetic procedures have become the norm in almost every country. Women and men have taken their aesthetic to the next level in ways you would have never dreamed possible. Enhancing your appearance is no longer a taboo, and many people often consider having some sort of cosmetic procedure done at least once in their lifetime.

In the pursuit of the perfect pout, you may be considering having lip fillers or injections. Whether you are a novice to aesthetic procedures, or you regularly enhance your appearance, it is always wise to do a little research before getting into your aesthetician’s chair.

Lip Fillers for Beginners

Lip fillers and lip injections after pay are seen as the ‘lunchtime procedure’ meaning that the procedure can be done quickly and professionally in your lunch hour. The injections are seen as less invasive than plastic surgery, and if you opt for non-permanent fillers, you can always reverse the effect. Although, as with any cosmetic procedure, there are possible side-effects, so do thoroughly research it beforehand and always use a registered aesthetician to avoid disappointment or injury.

When having lip augmentation (more commonly known as lip fillers) you should know that you may experience a slight amount of pain, although the level of pain has been described by most patients as mild or similar to a pinch. In most cases, a numbing cream is used before the injection, so the pain should be minimal.

What Should You Know About Lip Fillers?

After finding the perfect aesthetician or clinic, ensure you know what is expected of you pre-appointment e.g. which medications you should avoid, which type of filler you would prefer, as well as the type of look you are aiming for. Do your homework and be as prepared as possible before getting to the clinic.

If you are prone to fever blisters, start using a topical ointment on your lips 3 days before your appointment as a prevention. Having a painful fever blister the day after is something you most certainly would like to avoid.

Most beauty bloggers advise you to start slow with lip fillers and build up to the full size you would like so as to avoid having to reverse the procedure.

Pout Care Post-Procedure

The most common side-effects with lip fillers are bruising and swelling. These side-effects are mostly mild and temporary, but if you feel uncomfortable about it at any point, call your aesthetician for advice.

If you feel your lips are swollen, apply a cold press to your lips to help with inflammation. It is best not to tamper with your lips too much after your procedure and to expect that swelling may occur. Stay hydrated to protect your lips from cracking or drying out.

If you intend on sporting your brand-new pout at an event, remember to give yourself two weeks to recover properly and avoid extreme heat conditions such as saunas and the like.
