SYDNEY, 16TH NOVEMBER 2021: Innovative hospitality tech company, Grub Lab is creating a Christmas to remember after a year to forget, by launching Augmented Reality (AR) Santa photos. ‘Santagram’  will allow 100,000 families attending hospitality venues in the lead up to Christmas to get their photos with Santa, despite many restrictions due to COVID-19.

Launching today, Santagram will be available for free to anyone visiting a participating venue. Families can simply download the Grub Lab app, scan the code on the floor of the venue, which leads to three Santa photo opportunities where you can take your photo with Santa in a socially distanced and totally COVID-safe way. Finally, you can save the photo to your phone and share it on social media or with friends or get it printed!

The first Santagram photo scene is an Aussie classic, with Santa on the beach in his board shorts, while Rudolph surfs a wave in the background. The second scene is a more traditional Christmas winter wonderland. Families can also opt to have their Christmas snaps with Santa in the outback, complete with cork hat Kangaroo and Kookaburras.

For many retailers and venues, Santa Claus has been put on pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so in a bid to encourage families back into Aussie local pubs, clubs and restaurants, Grub Lab is creating AR santa snaps for the whole family. Some of the venues already onboard include: Wenty Leagues Club, The Greens North Sydney and Seagulls Club Tweed Heads.

Mick Carr, CEO & Founder of Grub Lab commented: “The hospitality industry has had it tough this year. While we can do very little about a global pandemic, what we can do is do what we do best, create unforgettably fun experiences for families that drive loyalty to hospitality venues. We’ve got a number of venues already signed up for this Christmas experience and are keen to spread the Christmas joy to many more around Australia.

When 93% of all dining decisions are made by the kids, what better way to bring families back into venues after a year of lockdowns than Santa”

Grub Lab is an innovative kids entertainment program designed to enhance the family dining experience for all hospitality venues. Grub Lab’s complete plug and play solution that uses AR technology to keep kids entertained.
