You don’t deserve for your quality of life to be anything less than perfect… so don’t accept anything less. No matter who you are, where you live, or what you do, at all conceivable points, you should strive to ensure that you are as healthy, happy, and stress-free as you can possibly be.

Sometimes, life will throw a hurdle or two in your way to stop you from maintaining the high quality of living that you deserve. This doesn’t mean that you can’t overcome these hurdles or even knock them down entirely, though.

Tackle all of your health problems

Regardless of how big, small, serious, or inconsequential they may be, you should set about the all-important task of tackling all of your health problems. You don’t deserve to feel anything less than 100%, which is why you need to strive to feel your absolute best at all times. Whether it’s the wintertime or the summertime, you need to take action and ensure that you are living and working to the best of your ability.

Don’t wait until something is seriously wrong with you to take action. Even if you have a little niggling ailment, you should seek to cure yourself of it. You shouldn’t accept being under the weather or feeling discomfort, not even for one second, which is why you need to take each ailment seriously, regardless of seriousness. Take Movicol if you are having digestion problems, take an aspirin if you feel a headache, and seek medical attention if you’ve fractured a bone. Seriousness is inconsequential in this instance — if you feel discomfort or if your health problems are holding you back from enjoying life, you need to put a halt to them right away.

Focus on the relationships that affirm you

The relationships that you forge with other people will have a definite bearing on the quality of life that you allow yourself to enjoy. Some people will affirm you and make everything about life a lot easier and better. On the other hand, some people will drain you and make you way more stressed than you need to be. If you’re serious about maintaining a high quality of life, you need to focus your time and effort on relationships that affirm you, not drain you.

In order to ensure that you are getting the most out of the affirming relationships that you share with others, you need to be able to communicate with them in a healthy way. If you don’t, the relationship will soon turn sour, and you’ll be back to square one.

To communicate in an effective manner, you should:

Stay focused on the here and now

The past has no bearing on the present, so don’t make your friend or family member feel uncomfortable by bringing it up or dwelling on it.

Listen to your partner

Nothing can kill a relationship like somebody not listening and constantly making everything about them.

Always seek to see things from their point of view before making a judgement

Remember, just as you do, your friend just wants to be understood.

Don’t be overly critical

Being overly critical of your friend will only make them get defensive and shut down communication with you. Instead, try to be empathetic or, at the very least, seek to offer them constructive criticism.

Get enough sleep

The amount of sleep that you get each night will have a serious impact on your quality of life. If you don’t get the amount of shuteye each night that is deemed perfect for a person of your age (9-11 hours for children, 8-10 hours for teens, 7-9 hours for adults, etc.), your body’s need for rest won’t be met. Ultimately, this will make you more reactive toward stress, it will make you feel more fatigued throughout the duration of each day, and it will just make you feel generally lousy and unproductive. You don’t want or even need to feel this way — get enough sleep each night, and you’ll be far better off for it.

As stated numerous times, you don’t deserve anything less than a high quality of life. You should never, then, stand for anything that make you feel ill, stressed, sad, or lonely. Take the above advice, overcome whatever hurdles stand in your way, and strive to be the best possible version of yourself.
