How to Make a Small Bathroom Look and Feel Bigger:

Maximize your bathroom space with these tips and tricks.

Having a house that is on the smaller side can be frustrating, especially when you find yourself at home for most of the day. For instance, if you work from home or have young children, you might be at home now more than ever. Moreover, if your bathroom is also smaller in size, you can find yourself cramped and tripping over things every time you try to enter it.

Having a small bathroom that is closed off, dingy, and darker can be difficult. When you have dreams of an airy, spa-like space to unwind in at the end of the day, the reality of your smaller bathroom might make you feel as though it isn’t possible to have the space that you really want.

While actually knocking down walls and building more space in a bathroom is a major and expensive project, there are actually some simpler things that can be done in order to make your smaller bathroom both look and feel much bigger. Here are a few tips that can help you to do just that so your bathroom no longer feels like a closed-off space.

Go for Glass

When it comes to small bathrooms, making the most of the space that you have is going to be key. What you don’t want to do is close things off inadvertently by having large, bulky cupboards or standard shower curtains in place. Your best course of action for such things is to swap them out for options that are made of glass.

For instance, clean and bright glass Shower Screens will instantly open up the space in your bathroom by allowing you to see all of the open space at once. Traditional shower curtains naturally divide your bathroom into two parts in terms of what you can see. By opening things up with glass, you can instantly make the space look and feel bigger.

Use Natural Light

Another change that will go a long way is to bring in as much natural light as possible. If it isn’t too big of a project to have a window installed, then that might be your best option. If you already have a window, but you keep it covered with curtains or blinds at all times for privacy, you might consider changing out the glass for fogged glass.

By using fogged glass in your bathroom window, you can still reap the benefits of natural light without compromising on privacy. Furthermore, certain opaque or obscured glass window options make for quite the design element in your bathroom.

Open Up the Shelving

Storage is one of the most important components of a bathroom. However, bulky storage options can make the space feel small and cramped. Open things up by utilizing your wall space for some simple, modern floating shelves.

Since you will be able to still see the wall behind the shelves, the space, in general, won’t feel as closed off. You can then choose to display some nice design pieces like candles or plants to brighten up the space even more.
