Often touted as the world's most liveable city, Melbourne, Australia is probably a place that you're at least vaguely familiar with. This wonderful melting pot of coffee, design, and culture rises in popularity each year, but just because it's well known, doesn't mean that every fascinating fact is out there for the world to see. That's why we've decided to share just a handful of the most amazing things you probably didn't know about the City of Greater Melbourne:

Your Business Doesn't Have To Be Based There To Get In On The Action

This first fun fact is for those of you who hustle and grind every day to make your business the best it can be. A prestigious office location can help boost your business, but it also often comes with a massive cost due to premium frontage. The good news is that you can actually get a virtual office in Melbourne for a fraction of the price of a traditional one. This gives you all the perks of a CBD address without the crazy overheads.

Melbourne Has The Fourth Largest Rail System In The World

Melbourne’s tram network in this city is so big that it's the largest outside of Europe and the fourth largest on the planet. That's great news for those looking to get around without a car. and it has definitely improved Melbourne's ranking on many a list. There are also some lovely heritage trams that travel around certain areas of the city. Checking these out makes for a lovely sightseeing adventure.

It Also Has Three Of The Top 5 Tallest Buildings In Australia

At over 315m tall, Australia 108 is the second tallest building in the country (beaten only by Q1). This is then followed by the Eureka Tower (just under 300m tall), Crown Sydney, and Aurora Melbourne Central, the latter of which is approximately 270m tall.

If we measure excluding spires, Australia 108 is the country's tallest building, followed by the Eureka Tower, Crown Sydney, Aurora Melbourne Central, and the Brisbane Skytower. Talk about having friends in high places!

Last Year Was The First Since 1996 That The F1 Australian Grand Prix Wasn't Held There

This one's for the rev heads out there: Although many states have tried to get their hands on the Australian Grand Prix, it has been held at Albert Park Circuit for over twenty years, and it's truly a sight to see.

Holding any sporting event consistently for this long is an achievement, and with the beloved race set to return in 2021 (albeit later in the year), this tradition shows no signs of stopping.

As a bonus, you'll also generally get to watch a show or two from the Virgin Australia Supercars, an iconic Aussie racing tournament. So, visiting the event is essentially a three-for-one when you roll the entertainment of both race varieties in with the history of the event.

Melbourne Is The Foxiest Place On The Planet

Finally, for the animal lovers out there: Melbourne has the highest population of foxes per square kilometre in the world, and they are thriving. The urban fox population across the city is feasting to the point where the critters are actually fatter than their naturally acclimatized counterparts. They'll happily strut around like they own the place if they think no one is watching.

So, those are our top five amazing things you probably didn't know about Melbourne. Were you already aware of any of these facts? Or perhaps you have your own to add? Let us know in the comments below, and have yourself a wonderful day!
