Are you feeling a little Stressed? Take comfort in the fact that you’re not alone. There are millions of mums feeling exactly the same, all over the world. Why are so many mums feeling the pressure, when raising children is meant to be one of the happiest and most fulfilling times of their lives? It could be any number of different things that the modern parent has to worry about. Financial insecurities, concerns about bullying, drugs and alcohol abuse, balancing a career and home life, intensive parenting styles, relationship demands and much more, can all build up and lead to stress. Stress is not a helpful feeling, and it can hurt your health and the family’s well-being. Here are some tips to help you chill out a little better.

Recognise the Signs

Learning to recognise the signs will mean you don’t blow your lid. Some of the symptoms to look out for are rising blood pressure, spiked heart rate, impatience, lapses in judgement, yelling or speaking louder. Think about how these behaviours are going to affect your kids. Be in tune with your body more, and you’ll be able to identify the warning signs sooner and do something to change it.

Take a Break

When the pressure is rising, it might not be possible to avoid the problem completely. However, it should be possible for you to get away, even if it’s only for a few minutes. Taking yourself out of a situation, breathing, and allowing yourself to take a stress break is often all that’s needed for you to get a new perspective on what is happening. There are a number of ways you can do this. Take five minutes out and put up a “do not disturb” sign on your bedroom door. If you’re a vaper, try one of the relaxing e-liquids from ultimatejuice.co.uk. Such a habit can help you unwind. Alternatively, listen to some relaxing music, read a book or meditate.

Learn How to Relax

We all seem to live our lives at a break-neck speed and have forgotten how to relax. You might think that camping out in front of the TV is a great way to relax. However, there are far better ways to do it. Try doing some yoga exercises, stretches, taking a quick walk, sip green tea, deep breathing exercises, acupressure, get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine, or listen to some music.

Get Some Exercise

Believe it or not, exercise is a great way to relax. It does, however, take a certain level of commitment and organisation. You don’t need to be doing it for several hours every day. A small slice of your day, a couple of times a week will help you to relax more on a daily basis.

This is just a small selection of the things you can do to help you de-stress. Finding something that suits you, doesn’t take up too much of your time, fits into your daily routine and helps you to relax are what matters. Dealing with children on a daily basis can be very stressful, even though you love them dearly. Learning how to cope with your feelings will make you a wonderful mother.
