Make it local please!:

The lesson of last night's TV is that we prefer to see local stories, even when up against US mega-hits.

It may be a hit in the US, but Homeland failed to impress Australian viewers last night delivering another blow to the embattled Network TEN.

Up against two locally produced dramas in the Nine Network's House Husbands and the ABC's Jack Irish, Homeland only managed to attract 633,000 viewers making it number 14 last night. House Husbands attracted 1.04 million (number 5) and Jack Irish which stars Guy Pearce (pictured) had 950,000 (number 6).

The most watched program last night was the Seven Network's current affairs program, Sunday Night, with 1.354 million viewers followed closely by Nine's long running flagship, 60 Minutes (1.341 million).

Coming in a very strong 3rd was comedian Anh Do's Anh Does Vietnam with 1.317 million also on the Seven Network.

Network TEN had some relief taking out 9th and 10th spots with Bones and Modern Family respectively, but its other new show about two gay men wanting to raise a child via a surrogate mum, flopped. It was 16th with 488,000 viewers.
