After a winter spent largely indoors, Australians will soon be celebrating outdoors when Moonlight Cinema returns for another summer of picnics, friends, family and films.

Celebrating 25 years of open-air cinematic splendor, Australia’s favourite and biggest outdoor cinema is set to return to idyllic inner-city spots in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. Moonlight Cinema’s summer of film fun will run from November 2020 – April 2021, with exact season dates for each city announced in the coming weeks.

This season, Moonlight Cinemas will roll out a range of initiatives at each site in line with local health guidelines and recommendations including venue capacity. The enhanced guest experience will evolve to include COVID-safety marshals, social distancing measures, increased hygiene facilities and contactless payment to offer peace of mind for all Moonlight guests.

Taking place in sprawling parklands and with tailored measures set up to ensure cleanliness and comfort, movie-lovers can return to Moonlight with confidence to enjoy green parklands, balmy summer sunsets and unforgettable quality time with loved ones. More than a movie experience, Moonlight is an opportunity to kick back in the outdoors and relish in the summer vibes.

Being a BYO* event, Moonlight is one of the easiest nights out to plan. Prepare a picnic of mouthwatering morsels, sweeties for the little ones or a bottle of bubbly; you can bring it all to Moonlight.  And if you don’t have time to pack your own, Moonlight Cinema will have you covered with onsite food trucks offering up a licensed bar, tasty hot food and movie snacks.

Moonlight Cinema is getting ready to bring movie lovers the ultimate festival vibe to film-watching with exclusive onsite activations, freebies and premium lounging options. This year you will also be able to turn the dial up on your movie night with Moonlight’s Gold Grass presented by AAMI. The exclusive packages offer a spacious area for you to lounge on luxurious bean beds, a killer view of the screen and top-notch wait service.

You’ll also be able to cool down with a complimentary ice cream in the Connoisseur Lounge or treat yourself to an Espresso Martini in the fully-catered Platinum Experience presented by Tia Maria^.

Recline on a plush bean bed under the stars or unfurl a picnic blanket and unwind with mates amidst the lively and relaxed atmosphere, there’s set to be a range of magical Moonlight experiences for everyone this summer. Keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks, season dates drop soon and the December program goes live in November.

Moonlight Cinema will roll out a range of new sanitisation and wellbeing initiatives as part of reopening, including:

Social Distancing
Social distancing measures have been put in place across all Moonlight venues including queue controls and capacity limits. All guests are required to maintain the adequate distance from other guests outside their group. Safety marshals will be onsite at each screening to ensure social distancing guidelines are being met.

Increased Hygiene
Moonlight has increased site hygiene facilities. There will be hand-sanitising stations throughout venues and enhanced cleaning measures of high-frequency touchpoints.

Online Bookings
Online bookings are strongly recommended.

Bins Available
Bins are readily available across the venue and all guests are encouraged to dispose of their own rubbish.

Contactless Payment
Moonlight Cinema is a cashless venue. Contactless payment is required in all outlets.

A Proven Approach
As a part of the Event Hospitality & Entertainment Group family, Moonlight Cinema’s comprehensive wellbeing plans are above and beyond industry standard initiatives that have been implemented successfully at other Event Hospitality & Entertainment properties (Event Cinemas and Thredbo) over the last few months.
