We try: Ravensburger 3D puzzles:

Educational, sturdy and a great family activity

I was surprised when my six year old asked for a puzzle this Christmas. I used to love doing them when I was younger – particularly with family at this time of year.

However, it seems to be a thing of the past taken over by electronic games like Mindcraft. But the 3D jigsaw puzzles brings the concept right up to date and is a great activity for kids and adults to enjoy together.

There’s range of fascinating landmarks across the globe that can be constructed. I got the Big Ben London, along with the Eiffel Tower Paris puzzle and we’ve all really enjoyed assembling them, while talking about the iconic buildings and our favourite places in the world.

This set is real top quality and the pieces fit together perfectly. Some of the pieces have hinges that require you to bend them before you fit them to their neighbours, and there are plastic pieces as well that help hold the model together.

Each piece is numbered on the back to help you if you get stuck, along with direction arrows to the piece that comes next.

It has great stability without any glue required and has 216 pieces.  We’ve put our models on display in each of the children’s rooms, but you can easily return them to the box afterwards.

It’s been a real hit with the kids and I recommend them highly to others – particularly for parents wanting to help their children’s manual dexterity.

In fact, we liked the two puzzles so much, I have just ordered two more in the series – the Collosseum and Empire State Building!

There’s a great range of other famous buildings and other designs, which can be see it at the Ravensburger website.

5 stars.
