It's Monday and we've got 3 things to do this week. This week we’re focussing on a kids’ activity at home, an organising activity for mum and a fun festival for the whole family.

Kids activity: Make homemade thank you cards

fingerprintthankyoucards

Here’s a great activity idea from Muminthemadhouse.com that teaches great manners and will also keep the kids busy! Make homemade Robin thank you cards to say thank you to relatives and friends for Christmas gifts or to keep in the cupboard for birthdays throughout 2014.  Our kids did it over the weekend and loved it!

You will need:

  • Cardstock or blank white cards
  • Paint
  • Fine tip black pen

       Directions for kids:

  • Fold paper in half
  • Paint a finger with brown paint and make fingerprints on a card to represent the Robin's body
  • Wash hands
  • Paint top of finger with red for the Robbin’s red breasts
  • Then added the birds beaks and feet with a fine tipped pen
  • Write thank you on the front (adult does it if child isn’t at this stage)

More activities like this are served up daily from the best mum blogs, along with the latest news and lifestyle content across the web at: www.mumsdaily.com.au

Organisation activity: Update your address books & planners

addressbook

It’s a great time of year to update your address books with Christmas cards, letters and photos in the house.

Take advantage of this treasure trove of information from family and friends by updating your address book, so it’s easier to stay in touch with loved ones throughout the year.

  1. Sit down with your computer, smartphone, planner and that big box of holiday greetings
  2. Reassess the way you keep this important information. Still scrawling in a battered old address book? Perhaps this is the year to move contacts to the smartphone or computer.
  3. How about cleaning up information on the tech side? Take this time to prune and correct your contacts, adding home addresses to phone numbers and e-mail addresses for a more robust contacts manager.
  4. Double-check telephone numbers. E-mail addresses make it easy to keep in touch with friends overseas.
  5. Did your friends have babies during the year? Were there other significant events that you’d like to remember and mark the anniversary of? While you’re at it, make a note of them in your calendar also and you will be on top of occasions next time you chat.
