It's too late for the Easter school holidays, but here are five recommendations for top family-friendly destinations for you to think about and plan for the next school holidays. Because the next holidays will be in our winter, I've focussed on areas which are warm and offer lots of family fun at the beach or by the pool.

As you know, the next holidays will come around soon enough - so get planning and visit checkin.com.au for more information - and even more ideas!

1.  Kingfisher Bay Resort, Fraser Island - Australia

The whole family will love this fully integrated eco-tourism resort located on World Heritage-listed Fraser Island. Kids can run wild with adventure and educational activities galore including learn to fish clinics, bird watching, frog spotting and the resort’s Junior Eco Rangers program which incorporates art, walks, story telling, orienteering, rope courses and canoeing to name a few.

2.  Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai - UAE

Set on man-made Dubai’s Palm Island, this luxurious, ocean themed resort is the perfect mix of thrills and relaxation. Explore as a family with facilities including the Aquaventure Waterpark (the no. 1 water park in the Middle East and Europe), underwater aquarium, Dolphin and Sea Lion encounters and world-class restaurants.

The Kids Club is extravagant with an underwater theatre, rock-climbing wall, pirate playground and much more, so you won’t feel guilty about indulging in some infamous Dubai shopping or a treatment at the opulent ShuiQi Spa.

3.  Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort, Kota Kinabalu – Malaysia

Experience the unique natural wonders of Borneo at Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort. Set on the picturesque Pantai Dalit Beach, the whole family can enjoy watersports including jet skiing, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking and banana boat rides. The resort also features a nature reserve where you participate in jungle walks and even meet and learn about the endangered Orangutan. The reserve offers a very special ‘Ranger Experience’ for children who want to contribute and assist the rangers in their daily work – perfect for your little animal lovers.
