5 Simple Hacks for Increasing Your Curb Appeal:

Selling your house?

Buying a house is one of the biggest life decisions. That's why people will spend a lot of time searching for just the right one and analyzing every single detail about the potential houses. If you're planning on selling your house, you need to be aware how important it is to have an impressive curb. And why is that?

Most buyers choose houses they want to check online, so if they see a photo of a house with an unattractive curb, they won't even bother to show up to the open house. The exterior is what makes buyers decide on whether they want to see more of the house. They want a sign that you've been taking proper care of your house. So, here's how you can improve the impression your curb leaves on the buyers:

1. Color makes wonders

The first thing you should do is to apply a brand new coat of paint. When choosing the right color, pay attention to the larger surfaces first, like exterior walls and fence - they should be in neutral, light colors so that you can use a bright color for stressing details or decorations.

Check the neighborhood - the point is for your house to blend in nicely with the rest of them. Adding cheerful colors can be done with flowers on the lawn or along the path. If you're short on money for repainting the whole exterior, then freshen it with a bold color on the front door or just paint the fence with charcoal grey, which stands out from the rest of brown fences.

2. Keep it clean

Detailed cleaning is the number one rule when selling a house. It sounds like a simple task, but there is a great amount of work if you don't want to miss anything, which you definitely shouldn't. First, do a pressure wash from the outside, removing the debris and the dirt that has been piling up on the walls and front porch. Next, shine your windows and then decorate it with elegant bouquets or impressive vases, just to avoid them being plain simple.

Clean the gutter and the roof. It's also an opportunity to check if the roof needs repairing.

3. Furniture

The front porch should look inviting. Among other things, the furniture should do the trick.

Don’t just take out old shabby chairs from the garage, find something appealing and looking comfortable. If your budget won't cut it for new furniture, then at least paint your old chairs with a bright and warm color and give your front porch life.

4. New installments

Bad lighting ruins the overall impression of the exterior. Low-voltage landscape lighting along the walkway can add that sense of a warm and romantic household and it doesn't take an expert or any demanding and correct constructions to place and install them. The driveway is always good to have some lighting, too, and if you're willing, you can put some light on the tree. Lastly, take a photo of your house in the early evening, when the effect of the lighting can be fully shown. If your front porch is open to the street, install a nice lattice to make the impression of a finished job and a clear line between the porch and the ground.

Also, it's really quick to replace your old mailbox and install one made of wood or different than other ones in the neighborhood.

5. Landscape

If you can't afford a major landscaping project, which is really popular right now, you can make little changes that can do wonders. First, tidy up and mow your lawn and get rid of all the dying plants and unwanted bushes and shrubs. Trim everything that needs trimming and clean all the paths with hot water to remove algae. Call The Local Tree Experts. Buying some interesting lanterns or sculptures and putting them in just the right place can really make a difference. Plant some new seasonal flowers along the walkway, in front of the porch and around the mailbox.

Flower pots are great for the front porch and around the door - not only they bring in the colors, they also feel homey and warm.

Conclusion

In a way, the general rule with polishing a house is - start from the outside and then move on to the inside. In order for somebody to wish to take a closer look at the inside, we need to make sure that the outside is appealing, too. Some steps are quick and easy, some take longer, but in the end, you want people to look at the driveway of your house and think: "This looks like a place I would love to live in."
