Today, most children are glued to their screens watching their favorite cartoons, shows and playing video games. While they may learn a thing or two from what they watch, too much of it may cause more harm than good. And that is exactly where the need to engage them in other activities comes in. Playing sports is one way your children can improve not only their health but also their mental state. If your children seem to not have any interest in sports, this read is for you. We will be looking at 4 ways you can get your children involved in sports.

1. Take them to watch games

Children learn a lot from what they see, and they are always ready to try out something that looks fun. One of the ways you can ignite their interest in sports is by taking them to watch live games. If you go and watch football matches, for example, make a habit of taking them with you. Watching people play in the field will slowly build their interest and make them also want to try it out. Also, the fact that they will see other people cheering and having fun will make them want to know more about the sport.

Further, while at home, you can watch matches with them on the TV and even bet amongst yourselves which team will win. This will, in turn, make them watch the games to the end with a lot of keenness, waiting to see who will win the bet. In the long run, you will realize that your kids have started enjoying sports and would want to try out some of them too.

2. Enroll them in a kids sports club

Kids love being around other kids, and it is through their interaction that they also are able to grasp a thing or two. If your child is around children who enjoy sports, their interest in the games might grow very fast. Find a kid’s sports club near you that has a good reputation. Try to find one that offers all kinds of sports, as your child may end up loving more than one sport.

3. Start them at an early age

It is easier to make a child love sports when they are younger compared to when they are teenagers. To make it easier for you, you can get them started on sports at a very tender age, even when they are a few months old. You can, for instance, buy boxing gloves from Punch Equipment Australia and let them put them on while playing around the house. This early interaction on sports gets them to love sports from a very tender age and as they grow up may want to be part of the sports team in their school.

4. Play with them

Children’s minds are like sponges, ready to soak up any information. If your children see you are always on the phone or watching movies, they most definitely will take it up from you. If you want to build their interest in sports, try and play around with them in the house. You can take some time off on the weekends and just play with them in your backyard.

Igniting your child’s love for sports may seem like an uphill task at first, but do not give up. Remember, consistency and discipline are key.
