If you're looking for a practical quick read to help you get ready for your return to work then this is a useful tool to help you consider the questions you need to ask yourself (and your manager) with lots of up to the minute references, including tax and legal considerations.

Geared at returning professionals, this book is best suited to those with the flexibility to negotiate individual contracts and job descriptions. Career Mums helps you question what you want from work after kids and how to go about making it happen.

Career Mums helps address the common belief that all mothers should be GRATEFUL for flexible hours, noting, you get paid for the work/hours you do, nothing more nothing less.  While some industries and work places may be slow to accept this idea, this book makes the point it is up to you to identify what you want from work and present workable solutions to managers in order to manage your workload and hours.

Sykes and Tait note that while most returning mum's priorities in life may have changed, many working mums want to balance their ambition and family life without being sidelined in the workplace.

If you are looking for a detailed guide on how to get your CV up to date and how to apply for new jobs or you're considering a change career this is probably not the book for you, but if you're after a book to help you consider your options at a workplace you're familiar with, this is a useful tool.
