Carlton footy club’s dual Brownlow medallist, Chris Judd, has taken up cycling for a serious cause.
Later this month, he will join the ‘Every Australian Counts’ cycling team led by Care Connect CEO, Paul Ostrowski (pictured).
Care Connect provides community care services to people of all ages and abilities in NSW, Victoria and Queensland. They specialise in providing support for people from different backgrounds and those with complex care needs whether aged care, disability, mental health, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury, transitional care, preventative care, dementia and respite.
The cycling team ‘Every Australian Counts’ was established by Care Connect to raise awareness of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and to help make it a reality for 400,000 Australians with a disability.
The team, including Judd, is training hard to take part in the Financial Review newspaper’s Corporate Cycling Challenge later this month. The event includes elite sportspeople, corporate teams and senior executives and will include elite cyclists including Shane Kelly, Nathan Haas, Simon Clarke and David Tanner.
“Cycling is the ‘new golf’,” Judd said.
“I think what the ‘Every Australian Counts’ cycling team is doing is fantastic. It’s essential to build awareness of the NDIS and I am happy to help.”
The Corporate Cycling Challenge will take place at Flemington Racecourse on Sunday 18th November.
