Looking for a different way to understand your child? Astrology can be a good guide. It’s also a great way to look at any issues or themes that might be highlighted throughout the year. Look at the Sun sign of your child below and see what may be happening for him or her during the month of July.

There are also a few tips for mums.

Aries (20/3 – 20/4)

July brings a focus on home and family. Your Aries child may be more content to hang around at home, rather than wanting to get out this month. He or she may also be extra close to parents this month. The new moon on 8th July brings new opportunities on the home front. If your Aries child is old enough, she may enjoy helping to redecorate her room. The full moon on 23rd July highlights your Aries child’s friendships. It also brings a focus to your little Aries’ wishes, hopes and dreams. Help him or her to make them a reality under this Moon. Towards the end of the month your Aries child may experience a few power struggles. Help your little Aries to step into his/her own power during this time.

Aries mums may find themselves caught up in power issues during the second half of the month. Remember to stand your ground and be self-empowered. Don’t argue for the sake of it! The full moon on 23rd may see the ending of a friendship or of a group that Aries mums have been part of.

Taurus  (20/4 – 21/5)

July brings a focus on sibling relationships for your little Taurus. This is a time when he or she may feel closer to a brother or sister. If your little Taurus doesn’t have a sibling, this might be the time when they start asking for one! Communication will be important, so make sure you listen closely to your Taurean child. As Mercury is retrograde in your Taurus child’s communication sector, they may be more secretive until towards the end of the month, when Mercury goes direct. The new moon on 8th July is a great time to teach your little Taurus the joys of reading. The full moon on 23rd July may put a parent into the limelight. For older Taurus children, their reputation may come under scrutiny at this time.

Taurus mums may find that issues with neighbours crop up this month. It’s also a great time to connect with a sibling if you haven’t seen one for a while. The full moon on 23rd July may see the end of a career path or life direction. It may also highlight a parent in some way.

Gemini (21/5 – 20/6)

July is the month to boost your little Gemini’s self-esteem. His or her self-worth will be a highlight this month. Boost your Gemini child’s confidence with praise and by listening to him/her. The new moon on 8th July is a great time to introduce the concept of doing chores for pocket money. The full moon on 23rd July highlights your little Gemini’s beliefs. Another country or culture may also come into prominence for your Gemini child at this time.

Gemini mums also need to work on their self-esteem this month. Do things to make yourself feel good in July. How you earn your money may also come up. New ways of earning money can be started under the new moon on 8th.

Cancer (20/6 – 22/7)

This is your little Cancer’s month to shine. Pay special attention to him or her during the month of July. Health and vitality should be at a premium this month. The new moon brings a chance to start anything to do with the physical body, so it’s a great time to introduce a new sporting activity or encourage an old one. With four planets in Cancer by mid-month, your Cancer child may be extra-emotional during this period. The full moon on July 23rd will also be a time when your Cancer child feels things very deeply.

Cancer mums take centre stage this month as you celebrate your birthday. Enjoy your time in the limelight – you deserve it! Eat, drink and be merry (for tomorrow you may look after everyone else)! Use the energy of the full moon on23rd to take care of any joint finances. Take the opportunity to speak from the heart after the 20th when Mercury goes direct in Cancer.

Leo (22/7 – 23/8)

The month starts off quietly for your little Leo. He or she may prefer to spend some quiet time during the first three weeks of July. The new moon on 8th is a great time to introduce meditation to your little Leo. Taking time out to do some quiet, creative activities will be appreciated by your little Leo. The full moon on 23rd falls in your Leo child’s relationship sector, so a best friend may be highlighted at this time. If your Leo child has had any difficulties with another child recently, these issues may come out under this full moon.

July has the potential to be quite a spiritual month for Leo mums. Take the time out to meditate, spend some time alone at your favourite spot or go for a walk along the beach. Do anything that helps you to reconnect to yourself. By the end of the month, you will be back in party mode and ready to share your beautiful creative spirit with the world.

Virgo (23/8 – 23/9)

July starts off with the focus on friends for your little Virgo, so encourage socializing during the first few weeks of the month. When Mercury, ruler of Virgo, goes direct on 20th July, encourage your little Virgo to speak from the heart. He or she may be more of a thinker than a talker until then. The new moon on 8th July is a great time to introduce your Virgo child to a new group. Encourage him or her to follow their dreams. The full moon on 23rd July falls in your Virgo child’s health sector, so make sure s/he is rugged up warmly and gets enough sleep during this time.
