The start of the school year is coming, and before long parents all over the country will be dusting off backpacks and ironing uniforms in preparation for the first day back. This year, Sunny Queen Farms is helping parents with the biggest back to school challenge of them all – the perfect packed lunch - with its new Free Range Peeled Hard Boiled Eggs, and a range of expert tips, tricks and recipes.

Sunny Queen, whose mission is to make Aussies feel good, has been producing Australia’s favourite smiley-faced eggs for over 90 years. Now, they’re making school days a breeze for parents keen to easily create fun, nutritious lunches with egg-splosions of delicious flavours.

The Peeled Hard Boiled Eggs range offers taste and nutrition ready to go, with egg-ceptionally cooked and pre-peeled Sunny Queen Farms eggs presented in convenient two or four packs.

Nutrient-rich lunches ensure Aussie kids, who are learning for six hours a day, will have the energy and motivation they need to concentrate and power through their schoolwork.

With each egg packed with protein and containing more than 10% of the recommended dietary intake for over 11 essential vitamins and minerals, they are a sure-fire way to create a cracking lunch jam-packed with nutritional goodness, in moments.

The recommended daily intake of protein for a 4-8 year old is 20g, and two of Sunny Queen’s Peeled Hard Boiled Eggs contain 11 grams of protein per serve – over half of their day’s protein needs.

Sunny Queen Australia Chef Katrina Neill has created a series of back to school tips and ideas that show the incredible versatility of eggs in creating egg-squisite school lunches that will make every child smile on the first day of the school year – including the BLT Bomb (see below).

“Whether you throw one in as a simple snack that’s ready to go – or put the time they save you towards creating a show-stopping lunch like the BLT Bomb – we hope our Peeled Hard Boiled Eggs will be the perfect addition to every parent’s Back to School routine,” said Katrina.

Katrina’s back to school lunch tips are:

  • The rainbow approach – foods of all colours – ensures kids get fun and colourful foods, with a variety of flavours and nutrients

  • Include a nice mixture of fruits, vegetables, eggs, and nuts

  • Think: the more fun lunches are to look at, the more likely your kids will be happy to bite down on your creation – you can create interesting shapes out of your foods or even use funky containers

  • Get the kids to help out in the kitchen and make it with you. Getting them involved will help make sure they’re excited for their lunch

  • Pre-make grab ‘n’ go sides like vegetable muffins or carrot and cucumber sticks with hummus and other bite-size snacks on a Sunday; that way you can just pop it in the lunchbox each morning

  • Make faces out of your food or draw smiley faces on them (just like Sunny The Egg) and it’ll be sure to put a smile on their face as well

With its simple, yet delicious recipes to make every lunchbox a cracker, Sunny Queen Farms is set to put a smile on the face of Aussie kids – and their parents – for Back to School 2021!

Sunny Queen Farms’ Free Range Peeled Hard Boiled Eggs are available in selected Woolworths stores in the egg aisle. For more information on its Free Range Peeled Hard Boiled Eggs or further recipe inspiration, visit

Sunny Queen recommends eggs to be kept chilled at all times. Tip: try using a frozen juice box to keep lunchboxes cool.

Healthy Back-to-School Lunch Idea Recipe

BLT BOMBS: Serves 8

  • 2 x 4 packs Sunny Queen Peeled Hard Boiled Eggs

  • 2 x small/medium Roma tomatoes - sliced

  • Baby cos or gem lettuce leaves, torn to smaller pieces

  • 4 strips of streaky bacon

  1. Using a sharp knife, cut a very small slice from the bottom of each egg, to create a flat base

  2. Cut the eggs in half horizontally and put the top halves aside

  3. Cook the bacon until crisp and cut into smaller pieces to fit the bomb

  4. Top the egg base with some mayonnaise, then add the lettuce, sliced tomato and crisp bacon

  5. Add a little more mayonnaise to the yolk section of the top half of the egg, balance on the bacon and secure with a cocktail skewer
