Happy Camper is a new social networking app for those who drive caravans or vans around Australia. It has a search function to help you find repairers, you can add friends, send online postcards by sharing pictures and it saves important van information. It also includes a handy ‘lost and found’ section.
The caravan, motor home and camping industry is the fastest growing domestic tourism sector in Australia and has been for the past ten years according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Contrary to the common view that RVs and caravans are for ‘grey nomads’ who have retired and are busy travelling the country, 60% of those involved in the caravan and camping sector are aged between 15-44 years. The industry is worth $6.5 billion nationally and provides 620,000 holidays each year.
The Happy Camper App was developed by Clint Reynolds of Brisbane. It’s designed with an Australian audience – or holidaymaker – in mind and is easy to use for anyone over the age of 13.
