Woolworths, the fresh food people, has revealed Australia’s most popular Disney story and characters with new research released to coincide with the launch of new Disney Movie Star Collectibles.

The research revealed that almost half (46 per cent) of parents believe The Lion King is the best Disney classic, while the same amount (46 per cent) of children claim Frozen is the ultimate Disney story in a survey of over 1,000 people.

The older classics continue to captivate children, with Aladdin the third most popular story (26 per cent), closely followed by The Jungle Book (23 per cent) in fourth place.

The research also revealed over 90 per cent of adults admire the stories for the positive message they send to kids. Forty-five per cent of under 12’s said they admire Disney characters primarily for their bravery (45 per cent) over magical powers (33 per cent) or looks (31 per cent).

The majority (93 per cent) of parents still look forward to story time with their kids, but over half (52 per cent) feel that they miss out due to a lack of time. Woolworths Disney Movie Stars collectibles help to bring the fun back to story time with a new projector, encouraging parents and kids to spend quality time together re-telling the classics.

Many of the children surveyed love to take storytelling one step further and dress up as their favourite Disney character. Forty-six per cent of girls surveyed choose to slip dress up as Frozen’s Queen Elsa, while 30 per cent of boys would prefer to dress up as Simba from The Lion King.

The Frozen phenomenon shows no sign of ‘letting go’ with the now iconic sing-alongs Let it Go (53 per cent) and Do You Want To Build A Snow Man (37 per cent) taking both first and second place as the top Disney songs. Woolworths Head of Sponsorships and Events, Karen Madden, said, “Disney Movie Stars Collectibles is all about bringing the magic of story telling to life. The range offers families a fun, educational, and interactive experience, encouraging little imaginations to re-tell Disney classics in their own way."

Families can experience some of their favourite Disney classics thanks to the new Disney Movie Stars Collectible range at Woolworths or online. Each pack is free with every $20 spend and includes a projectable card and sticker of Disney’s timeless stories.
