mandarins

You know it's good for your children so when shopping this weekend, please make the choice to include nutritional and delicious fresh produce as the perfect lunchbox snack and alternative to lollies and biscuits.

Apples

Jonathan apples are on their last legs so indulge now before their season is over! The price on these has continued to ease. Over the weekend and into next week expect prices to be back by around 10 per cent in comparison to last week, depending upon size and quality. Also make the most of Pink Ladys before the end of their season – the famous crunchy apples are back by 15% in price!

Strawberries

While prices for strawberries have been through the roof over the past month, the tide is starting to change. The high prices of the past month can no longer be sustained and I can see the strawberry market easing by as much as 20% as we head into the weekend and next week. Low consumer demand is resulting in a slight build-up of stock, meaning price needs to come down in order to get things moving. However, be aware that quality will be a definite concern; so be extremely selective when purchasing strawberries and always ask your local fresh food retailer if you have any questions.

Imperial Mandarins

Imperial mandarins have arrived and everyone should take advantage! The fruit has gained serious momentum and price will continue to ease. The mandarin price will ease this weekend and next week by as much as 20% in comparison to last week, depending upon quality. Greater volumes on market floors are pushing the price down. Imperial mandarin quality will only improve as the weeks go by, so be patient as sweet juicy mandarins are right around the corner.

Beans

Why not try a non-fruit snack? Crispy green beans are the perfect nutritional lunchbox filler for a savoury flavour. A shortened supply out of Victoria had shot prices up over a fortnight ago however lack of consumer demand forced prices to drop by 15% last week. This is expected to ease by a further 5% over the coming week, depending upon quality.

Are you interested in a particular fruit or vegetable? Let us know and Franco will get an update for next week if possible.
