One of the greatest struggles for mums globally is likely keeping their kids occupied. The older they get, the more they need to be engaged to avoid mass chaos. Having said that, how then do you come up with things for them to do while also trying to plan meals, earn a living if you work and keep your home in one piece?

Nine out of ten times, the answer is fun-filled activities that aren’t too complicated but keep your kids occupied. If you’re reading this because you need help in that department, you’ll find a few ideas below.

Sports Day

If you have a spacious garden or a park nearby, it’s the perfect opportunity to have a sports day. It’s also a chance to get enough physical activity in and keep your health in good shape. There are too many games to mention that you could choose to play on the day, but here are a few that are quite popular.

Tug of War: If you’ve played this game when you were a child, then you know how much fun it can be. The great thing about this game is that all you need is a long enough rope and an even number of people pulling on both sides.

Sack Race: For those that have some old rice sacks at home, this is an energy-filled game you could include in your sports day. You could also use a pillowcase or anything both legs can go into while you hold the top of it and hop to the finish line.

Obstacle Course: To feel as though you’re having an Olympics race at home, why not try an obstacle course? A park would be an ideal place to do this as you already have things you can use like stairs, a slide, as well as monkey bars. However, if you’ve got spare tires and hula hoops, you could still make it work at home.

Aside from the mentioned, you can include other more common sports as long as you make it fun for all.

Special Effects Makeup

Getting your kids to use their sometimes wild imagination is great for their creativity. As an arts and crafts activity, why not experiment with special effects makeup? A great idea would be to create a mask from scratch as it’s a fun challenge. You’re going to need a number of materials such as polyurethane rubber and paint to start with. When setting up your activity area, ensure you do it in an area where you have space and the liberty to make a mess. However, it’s important that you do your research and know how to use these materials for safety reasons.

Plan a Treasure Hunt

Another great activity idea you can do with your kids is a treasure hunt. If you want to keep them busy for a few hours, this should do the trick. Not only is this a chance to get them thinking, but it’s also an opportunity to be creative with your kids. You could get them to choose costumes of their choice that they’ll wear while hunting for the treasure. In terms of where you can use, your garden, house, or local park are all suitable places.
