How to cope with back pain during pregnancy - motherpedia
At least half of all pregnant women will experience some level of back pain during their pregnancy. Even though it usually isn’t anything to worry about, it can definitely get in the way of your daily life. Thankfully, though, there are a few different tips and tricks you can try to give yourself the relief that you need, without having to resort to medications.

Use Products Designed to Relieve Tension

You can relieve tension and pain in your back with the help of products like those from spinalbackrack.com. From the famous Backrack, to their car seat support and chair support products, you can get relief whether you’re at home, at the office, or in your car. You can also try acupressure mats, as another example. Or you can don a maternity support belt, which some women find helpful.

Try Prenatal Yoga

Whether you practiced yoga before getting pregnant or not, if you suffer from back pain during pregnancy, there’s no better time than now to try out some prenatal yoga. You’ll build flexibility and strength in a really low-impact style workout that focuses on relieving pain and stiffness in your back, as well as your joints, nerves, and muscles. Plus, the practice also helps you cope with emotional stress, and it can even help you sleep better by allowing you to relax your body and mind.

Wear the Right Shoes

You may be tempted to keep wearing the same sexy shoes you’ve always loved showing off, but when you’re pregnant, it’s actually best to wear low-heeled styles. You want shoes that will also provide adequate amounts of arch support. Flat shoes may not provide enough support either, and that could lead to more back pain.

Try Sleeping on Your Side

If you suffer from back pain, it may be the result of sleeping on your back. Try sleeping on your side instead, and try to keep at least one or both of your knees bent to provide additional relief. You can even incorporate the use of support pillows that you can place in between your knees to reduce pressure. You can also find pregnancy pillows that you can place behind the back or under the abdomen.

Apply Heating Pads or Ice Packs

Some pregnant women find relief by applying a heating pad or an ice pack to the back. Try one and then the other and see which one provides more relief.

Stay Active

Even though you may feel tired while you’re pregnant and you may be tempted to lie around as much as possible, the truth is that regular activity that keeps you moving could keep your back flexible and strong, reducing pain. The less you move, on the other hand, the more tense your back can become. Try gentle exercises, such as stretching, walking, and going in the pool for a swim.

These are just a few of the ways that you can find relief from your back pain naturally during pregnancy. Try out one of more remedies to find the ones that really work for you.
