A web poll conducted by ASG shows 64 per cent of parents would not be able to help their child, or would require assistance, if faced with an incident of bullying.

ASG Members have also identified bullying as a key concern impacting their children and families.

In response to these disturbing findings, ASG has created the Help protect your family from bullying special report to help parents manage the devastating impacts of bullying.

“Each day in Australia a reported 100,000 children and young people experience the destructive effects of bullying,” said ASG’s CEO, John Velegrinis.

“As a parent, it’s probably one of the most painful and difficult things we have to deal with, and it is next to impossible not to get emotional about it.

“Bullying damages the wellbeing of its victims physically, socially, and emotionally. It also hurts the children who bully, as well as those who watch it happen. It creates a climate of fear and disrespect for everyone involved.”

“This special report helps parents manage bullying in a practical, constructive and empathetic way.”

Written with educational expert and social-emotional wellbeing trainer, Ann-Maree Kelly, ASG’s Help protect your family from bullying provides parents with information to understand bullying – its signs and effects, and practical ideas of how to deal with bullying from a number of perspectives in a short, quick-read guide.
