The Kolling Institute was established in 1920 and is the oldest medical research institute in NSW.  It plays a major role in research training as part of the University of Sydney Medical School.

Researchers at the Kolling Institute have been at the forefront of medical discovery in areas such as pregnancy and childbirth, cancer and genetics, bone and joint disease, kidney and heart disease, pain and neurological disorders and tissue regeneration.  The Institute also houses the largest and most comprehensive tumour bank in the state.

The Director of the Institute is Professor Jonathan Ross, Professor of Obstetrics, Gynaecology & Neonatology whose own research interests include reproductive, maternal and child health and infection and immunological conditions.  Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh who has completed post graduate study at Oxford and in Sydney. As well as conducting research, Jonathan maintains an obstetrics practice particularly for high risk patients.

Jonathan will be one of the key speakers at the first ‘Kolling Knowledge’ health forum on Tuesday 8th May.

The forums will update people on best practice management of particular conditions and share highlights of ‘real life’ patients as well as future research directions.  The inaugural forum will be chaired by ‘Kolling Knowledge’ Ambassador, Dr John D’Arcy from the ‘Sunrise’ program, New Idea and the ‘Health Matters’ radio program.

I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis. My sister attended your lecture in October, and has given me lots of feedback. She said you presented an excellent video. I was wondering if there is a link so that I could download this Video. I have a Science degree, have worked for CSIRO and taught Chemistry and Biology as my profession. Science and research is my passion. Regards Michelle McGill
