Generations of children and adults have loved playing with Slinky and its unique walking action – watching the classic metal spring walk downstairs, alone or in pairs,  making its infamous slink-ity sound. It just never gets old!

First invented by mechanical engineer Richard James in 1943 during an experiment with tension coils. James  accidentally dropped a spring on the floor and watched as it began to “walk.”

Two years later, he introduced his walking spring toy in Gimbels Department Store, and the Slinky immediately sold out. Since its debut, over 300 million Slinkys have been sold worldwide and in 2000, this classic toy was inducted into the US National Toy Hall of Fame.

Slinky continues to be a favourite of children and adults all over the world. And it makes an ideal stocking stuffer, Kris Kringle or Christmas gift! Everyone loves a Slinky!

For everyone aged five years old and over, the Original Slinky is available from Big  W, Myer, Coles, Woolworths, Amazon & independent retailers for just RRP$8. More Slinky, more fun! You can also get the Original Giant Slinky – 70% larger than the classic metal Slinky – from Myer and Amazon for RRP $20.
