Tips on how to modify your thoughts to help keep you healthy!

How do you wake up in the morning?  Are you mentally alert, raring to go, ready to leap out of bed?  Do you open your eyes looking forward to the day ahead, or is yours perhaps a more lack-lustre, pedestrian, or even sluggish awakening? There’s a way to put more pep-in-your-step, and it doesn’t have to come out of a bottle or a packet. The way is to energize your thinking, and it’s good for your health.

 

Start from the “inside-out”

Finding the sparkling energy that gets you up out of bed and carries you effortlessly through the day, starts with your thinking. This mental approach, has many positive health benefits.  Researchers call it an “inside-out” approach, where you start by energizing thought first,rather than the “outside –in” method of trying to energize the body.

The reason for starting with one’s thinking each morning, is that physicality is a bit like a car parked in the garage. The vehicle has all the working parts, but it remains inactive. It doesn’t move until a person gets in and drives it. The same can be said about one’s physical state. What you think about the body, drives you towards experiencing good or bad health outcomes.

So here are some “inside-out” tips to energize mind and body.

- To get more zip-and-zing into your life, start the morning in the driver’s seat. Get-up with a zest for life.

- Set yourself free from any jaded and humdrum thoughts. Engage in activities that excite or energize you. Do something you love. Cultivate meaningful relationships. Be proactive.

- Invigorate your thinking with glad-to-be-alive, hope-filled thoughts.

- Don’t lower your vim-and-vigour levels with weighty, fear-filled, negative thinking.

- Follow this vitality-bringing advice. “… a single thought will not make a pathway in the mindTo make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.”  -  H. D. Thoreau

- Expect to be, and stay, full of get-up-and-go all day long.

- Energize your thinking and wellbeing by practicing these two steps.  

1. “embrace your body in your thought, … delineate upon it thoughts of health, not of sickness.”

2. “Take possession of your body and govern its feeling and action”. - Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health.

- Practice thinking health-boosting, spiritually positive thoughts. Doing so, is good for your health.

Thank you Berverly. The quote from Thoreau is an interesting one. It’s FILLING our thought with good that makes the difference, and this includes guarding against being weighed down by fearful thoughts. The good thoughts actually offer protection (like armour) against fear and despondency. This is a big topic and an important one for families.
