With just over a month to go, Australia’s largest sustainability expo – Eco Expo – will return to Brisbane, bringing with it a host of new environmentally conscious products and services. Set to be a favourite among the environmentally conscious and those eager to take the first steps toward a more sustainable lifestyle, the Eco Expo is the place to find small ways to minimise your global footprint without sacrificing the things you love.

The brainchild of serial event entrepreneur Kiara Sullivan, the Eco Expo was created with the aim to connect consumers with innovative products, encouraging the move towards a more sustainable nation. Following its success in 2018, the show will return with the theme ‘one eco step’, to encourage each of us to take at least one simple step toward a sustainable lifestyle without the need to take drastic measures.

To continue with the one eco step theme, initiatives to encourage those in attendance to get involved include the Lifeline $2 Clothing Sale with 20 tonnes (100 tables) of clothing to support slow fashion, the Eco Pledge, a Vegan Market and food trucks for all tastes, as well as special guest speakers with sustainability masterclasses, cooking demonstrations, DIYs and seminars. Visitors can even bring their bottles and cans to the event with recycling company TOMRA’s reverse vending machines offering a 10c refund from each container heading back to charity.

Everyone from green warriors to those just beginning their eco journey will find something at the Eco Expo, with over 150 exhibitors and speakers spanning everything from home, beauty, family, food and lifestyle. Fill your bottles from Water3 with sparkling or still, or meet the team at Prometheus Environment who create atmospheric air-to-water generators. The Tiny House Guys and TinyPods will also be on ground, each displaying two tiny houses for visitors to explore and learn more about the Tiny House movement.

The September event welcomes an impressive line up of celebrity speakers and environmentalists who will gather to share their professional insight and further spread the eco message. Headlining acts include the Environmental Cowboy Khory Hancock; crowd favourites Eat Yourself Green founder, Larissa Tedesco; My Food Religion founder Sofie Van Kempen; and Kira Simpson, celebrity slow fashion and green living advocate at The Green Hub Online.

Visitors to arrive first at the event each day will receive a limited edition ‘One Eco Step’ tote bag with exhibitor samples and goodies, designed to help make taking their first eco step that little bit easier. There will also be over 1000 perennial plants being given away on show floor at selected times each day.

Event organisers have negotiated free public transport with QLD rail (Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Ipswich) and city buses, along with providing bike racks for visitors are more inclined to cycle to the event. These steps have been put in place with the aim of further encouraging visitors to reduce their carbon footprint and provide them simple ways to continue to do so beyond the show.

With a focus on simple steps that make a difference, the Eco Expo is a great way for all ages to help make our world a more sustainable one to live in and to preserve the environment for future generations.
